R.I.P Traditional Analog

Say goodbye to analog tv everyone. The digital revolution starts today (in the US atleast, europe’s had it for a couple years now)!

Originally scheduled for Feb 17, 2009 but pushed back to many delays from analog-converter-box coupons and busy/retarded customers who wait til last second despite this being announced for the past 2 years – the time has finally come to put away the rabbit ears (or atleast connect them to your converter box if your still using that instead of cable/satelite).

The only thing i shall miss i think is that fact that if you get a bad signal you get a static-ky image with sound as opposed to a new garbled satellite-stuck-in-the-rain feeling of the new airborn digital frequency when low. Hopefully now that were going fully digital the stations will give us some better signal strength without so much old school (i dont wanna say “garbage” but thats what it is now) in the way interfering. They’ll invest in “Tv Translators” (according to the dtv2009 site) to help extend the signal farther to get a better signal for everyone.

Now everyone can enjoy 3-4 different subchannels of channel 6 and 4-5 subchannels of channel 7 as well as a local doplar channel for weather information. what i mean by subchannels is you’ll find for example: 06-1, 06-2, 07-1, 07-2, 07-3. Each with different stuff going on most of the time.

Hope everyone’s ready! With some luck we’ll end the day without opening any portals into any other dimensions. we’ll see

Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver

Its Official! I’ve heard about this since the beginning of the week and have been assuming it was this from the teasers but they confirmed this just yesterday that Nintendo is making a Gold/Silver Remake for the DS/i!

HeartGold and SoulSilver will be released in Japan this fall, possibly on or near Nov. 21, the 10th anniversary of the original release of their namesakes. International releases will likely come in mid-2010. This is the one that took you into Joho with the PokeGear, Lugia/Ho-oh legendaries, Tododile/Cyndaquil/Chikorita starters, The First Game in the series that included the Shiny Pokemons (Starting with the Red Gyrados), and he only game that Linked you to the Past World Kanto 3 Years after the fall of Giovanni and a Broken Team Rocket tryng to rebuild. This was byfar one of the best games in the series and its about time they rebuild it.

Even better theyre doing it with the Diamond/Pearl engine so its going to be 10x better than the original graphic-wise. We’re assuming you’ll be able to trade with D/P/Pt considering the old ones you needed the time machine/pokepark to tranfer from the GBA slot but since these are both DS the WiFi should be compatible.

The Second Generation Pkmn will be available and this will prolly bridge the gap for DSi since old Pokemon Can’t be transfered from GBA if you dont have a damned GBA-slot. Not to meantion the original copies of Pokémon Gold and Silver typically lose the ability to save after a period of about seven years, due to the internal battery running dry (this is due to the constantly-running clock). However, the battery is replaceable with another one of the same kind (although replacing it will reset the game’s data).  Since the DS keeps it’s clock in the DS those of you who lost your saves can rejoice in knowing it wont happen again after you get bored for a month and turn your game on again. Keep in mind this game was released just before Y2K in 1999, so if you dug up your old Game Boy Color your Pokemon are more than likely lost – you gotta admit this has to spark SOME kinda rage in considering all the hours we spent.. lol

From a first look at the screenshot, you notice the player has his Chikorita walking besides him. My guess is they’re going to let the starter Pkmn walk alongside the trainer much like they did in Yellow Version with Pikachu following you around everywhere you went. Noclue what happens when you talk to it but you prolly get some kinda Happiness Meter or maybe random items it may have picked up. It’s still not certain if it’ll be following you for the whole game or just certain areas but we’ll know more as time progresses. You can also see the new Sprite for your redhaired rival Silver (who is supposivly Giovanni’s Son) peeking in throught the window for the Poke he’s planning to steal from Elm (which just so happens to be the exact opposite of what you picked).  Anyways not much else is known sofar aside from the details of the Original GSC games but I’ll post any new developments as they appear. *excited*

The “Treeluv” Guild

Okay for years I’ve pondered and pondered but I could never think of another name for our lil group. Fact of the matter is I still can’t. Nothing I think of seems to describe our awesomeness.

There are some great names other guilds have had – epic titles such as “The Justice League”, “The Sons of Liberty”, “The Avengers”,  “Tokyo Knights”, or “The A-Team!”. Something with the words “Protectorate” or “Combine” (or something along those lines) always sound classy – especially when added with “The..” at the beginning.  Personally, I was always a fan of the ‘Tokyo Knights” that Marc came up with for our Guild Wars clan but I wonder if maybe our name should include our place of origin – the Reef Tree.

The simple “Treeluv” is what we’ve used until now but it just doesn’t seem like something we can actually refer to ourselves as – just seems something thrown together in a sense.All the Bestbuy stores down here in this district have different names for each store – CutlerBay Phoenix, Doral Pirates, Dadeland Dogs, Florida City Falcons, Kendal Cougers.

How about something that we can wear proudly and have others thinking “OsNAP! wtf is THIS about..?”. I’m not referring to the “Minds of Treeluv” blog name (it really is pretty nicely put together the way it is), but has anyone else thought of a name our private club can be assosiated with to standout there? Maybe even an insignia? Something that says who we are, who we came from, and what we do.

It’s served it’s purpose up until now for us but lets take it up a notch. A name we can wear proudly and instead of “im gunna go hang out with my friends”, allows you to have “I’ve got a ___ gathering..” or idk. Frankly, If we ever had like a sports team, would “Treeluv” really be what we would have on our shirts?? Hell at this point even “The Superfriends” have a more appealing name than we do.. Or maybe I’m just not seeing Treeluv in the right light. What do you guys think? Any ideas or opinions?

…and NO “The B-Team” or “Griffindor/Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff/Slitherin” are not acceptable!!

Pokemon Platinum Released!

Late post i know but Pokemon Platinum was officially released Sunday 3/22/09 (I managed to get it the day before and start but I didn’t get to progress much). Anyways to commemorate this latest edition to the Pokemon Franchise:
