Gulf of Mexico “dead zone”
An article on CNN has caught my attention and i think it is an extremely important issue because it deals with the livelihood of sea life around the world which is ultimately connected to us. A summary of the article is that scientist have found out that there is a lack of oxygen in the water, which means that sea life is either dying or moving toward deeper depths. Oceanographers are now saying that there isn’t enough oxygen in the Gulf Of Mexico, which has got me thinking since the gulf of Mexico is also connected to the Atlantic ocean wouldn’t that be affecting the sea life there also?
It seems the reason for the oxygen deprivation can be traced up the Mississippi River in the ‘corn country’ dubbed by CNN. The Fertilizers that are used in order to make cornfields more productive have nitrogen and phosphorous which is later run off the farmland by the rain but since this summer there was a flood, a huge dosage amount of it retired to the Gulf. There the microscopic algae population explodes because of the extra nutrients and when they die, their body sinks to the bottom but as they decompose it also consumes oxygen.
Currently there are about 400 ‘dead zones’ around the world and with the rising demand of ethanol, scientist can only expect for the ‘dead zone’ in the gulf of Mexico to expand.
Now the question is exactly what remedy can be applied to solve this? Because I’m somewhat sure our current government administration would not really give a damn about this, but i suggest they should since this can cause an economic disturbance in our nation and right now we don’t need anymore of that.

would the gasses in the bermuda triangle have any effect or possibly be related to this you think?

I think the gasses in the Bermuda triangle have nothing to do with the gulf, orlando and i think you have it wrong about the Bermuda triangle, i think it deals with more electromagnetic waves than gases. But if you suggest that the gasses in the Bermuda triangle would be related to this then we would already be dead by now.
I know for a fact that there is methane gas done there in the triangle which some scientist say is sometimes the causes of ship disappearing in the area. But as to relation to this area i don’t think so. But perhaps i could be wrong.

o.O? what? no its a certain gas that is there in large quantities reduces the density of the air causing ships to sink and planes in the air to fall. it was on the discovery channel. not quite sure about the issue with the compasses but i think they explained it there too in that documentary.
